Phoenixville Rises to the Top, Claims 1988 PAC Track & Field Championship
PERKIOMEN VALLEY, PA – In a thrilling battle for conference supremacy, Phoenixville claimed the 1988 Pioneer Athletic Conference (PAC) Track & Field Championship with a commanding 134 points, holding off Spring-Ford (121) and Pottstown (85) for the title.
Chris Minor (Phoenixville) electrified the track, setting meet records and sweeping the 100m (10.9) and 200m (22.6) and anchoring Phoenixville’s 4x100m relay victory (44.0). His dominant sprints earned him Track MVP honors.
On the distance side, Kevin Coll (Perkiomen Valley) shattered the 800m field with a 1:55.8 performance, while Mike Rasy (Pottstown) took the 1600m title (4:26.3). Matt Connelly (Upper Perkiomen) ruled the 3200m (9:44.2), keeping his competition at bay.
In the field events, Macy Dalton (Spring-Ford) was once again unstoppable, securing wins in the shot put (50’8.25″), discus (146’1″), and javelin (177’6″), earning Field MVP recognition for the second straight year.
Jay Ramsey (Phoenixville) had an outstanding meet, finishing in the top 3 in all sprinting events, while contributing to Phoenixville’s record breaking 4x400m relay team. Buffy Moffatt (St. Pius X) soared to victory in the high jump (6’4″), while Drew Poth (Phoenixville) had top honors in the pole vault (12’0″).
Phoenixville’s depth proved decisive, sweeping the 4x100m (44.0), 4x400m (3:25.1), and 4x800m (8:01.4) relays, capping off a dominant performance and securing their spot atop the PAC- in 1988.
