
Phoenixville Dominates Pioneer Athletic Conference Championship with Commanding Performance
PERKIOMEN VALLEY, PA – The Phoenixville Phantoms delivered a dominant performance at the PAC Track & Field Championship, racking up 134 points to claim the team title. With strong showings across sprints, distance races, and relays, the Phantoms left little doubt about their depth and talent.
Chris Trill showcased his endurance prowess, winning the 1600m (4:24.7) and finishing second in both the 3200m and 800m, contributing crucial points for Phoenixville. Meanwhile, in the meet’s most heated matchup, Louie Gibbs of Pottstown edge Perkiomen Valley’s Steve Gambone, in the 110 hurdles, taking the title (14.4) while winning the 400m (50.3). Gambone did bounce back and winning 200m, after starting the meet with a 300 hurdles victory.
On the field, Phil Washington of Pottsgrove soared to a meet record 22’11” in the long jump and also cleared 6’5″ in the high jump, establishing himself as one of the most dominant athletes of the day. Aaron Tyson of Pottsgrove also made his mark, launching a winning throw of 178’9″ in the javelin and taking second in the discus.
Phoenixville capped off its stellar day by winning the 1600m relay (3:31.1), sealing the team victory in emphatic fashion. Pottsgrove (62 points) and host Perkiomen Valley (57.5 points) rounded out the top three teams.
With several meet records shattered and multiple athletes excelling across events, the meet set the stage for an exciting remainder of the season.
